Last updated: April 13, 2026Lumis Paw ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Lumis Paw mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our app.
1Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use Lumis Paw:
- Account information: Your email address, used for authentication and account management. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and a unique identifier from Google to create or link your account. We do not access your Google contacts, calendar, or other data.
- Pet profiles: Pet name, type (dog or cat), breed, birth date, sex, weight, microchip ID, allergen information, and profile photo.
- Reminders: Vaccine, medication, grooming, and vet visit schedules you create, including due dates, recurrence settings, notification preferences, and completion history.
- Food scans: When you use the ingredient scanner, photos of food labels are captured by your device camera, processed on your device (cropped and compressed), and sent to Google's Gemini API for text extraction. Photos are processed in real-time and are not stored on our servers or Google's servers beyond the processing request.
- Search history: Records of food items you have searched for or scanned within the app.
- Favorites: Food items you mark as favorites.
- App settings: Your language preference, theme, and other in-app configuration choices.
2How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the Lumis Paw service, including food safety checks for your pets.
- Sync your data across devices so you can access your pet profiles, search history, and favorites anywhere.
- Manage your account and authenticate your identity.
- Process subscriptions and manage your plan tier.
- Improve and develop the app based on usage patterns.
3Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Lumis Paw:
- Supabase: Provides authentication (receives your email address) and database hosting (stores your pet profiles, search history, favorites, and settings). Supabase processes data in accordance with their privacy policy.
- RevenueCat: Manages subscription billing and entitlements. RevenueCat receives an anonymous user identifier and subscription status. They do not receive your email or pet data.
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store: Processes payment transactions for subscriptions. Payment details are handled entirely by Apple or Google and are never shared with us.
- Expo / EAS Update (Expo by 650 Industries, Inc., United States): Delivers over-the-air updates to app code. Receives device IP address, platform, and a per-install update identifier on every app launch when enabled.
- Google Gemini API: When you use the food label scanning feature, photos of food labels are sent to Google's Gemini API for ingredient text extraction (OCR). We do not store your photos. Google processes photos in accordance with their Gemini API Terms of Service.
- Google Sign-In: If you choose to sign in with Google, your Google account email and unique identifier are used to create or link your Lumis Paw account via Supabase authentication. We do not access any other Google account data.
Note: Over-the-air (OTA) updates deliver app improvements without requiring a store update. This process transmits your device platform and a per-install identifier to Expo's update servers.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
4Device Permissions
Lumis Paw requests the following device permissions only when you use the relevant features:
- Camera: Required for scanning food ingredient labels. Photos are processed locally and sent to Google Gemini for text extraction.
- Photo Library: Required for selecting pet profile photos and choosing existing photos for ingredient scanning.
- Notifications: Required for reminder alerts (vaccines, medications, vet visits). You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
5Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database with Row Level Security (RLS) enabled, ensuring that each user can only access their own data. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS/SSL) and follow security best practices to protect your information.
6Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days of receiving the request. Some data may be retained in encrypted backups for a limited period as required for operational or legal purposes.
7Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area or Serbia, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data.
- Right to data portability: Request a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object: Object to the processing of your personal data.
- Right to restrict processing: Request that we limit how we use your data.

8Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
We process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract: To provide the Lumis Paw service you signed up for, including account management, pet profiles, food safety checks, and reminders.
- Consent: For optional features such as push notifications and food label scanning with Google Gemini.
- Legitimate interest: For improving the service, preventing abuse, and ensuring security.
9Children's Privacy
Lumis Paw is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
10Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
